SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill provides a structured way to define how Cartography nodes relate to one another, covering standard relationships, one-to-many connections, and MatchLinks to model complex cross-source links.

Core Features & Use Cases

Standard relationship: attach a relationship to a node via existing schema fields.
One-to-many: flatten list-based targets into multiple edges for scalable associations.
MatchLink: connect two existing node types with rich metadata when needed, or to map data from separate sources.
Cleanup and maintenance: offer routines to reset and re-load relationships as data changes.

Quick Start

Show how to define a standard relationship, a one-to-many edge, or a MatchLink between existing Cartography nodes.

FAQPage Schema

How do I define relationships between Cartography nodes in Neo4j?▼

To define Cartography node relationships in Neo4j, you attach connections to nodes via existing schema fields using standard edges, or by flattening list-based targets into multiple edges for scalable associations.

What is a MatchLink in Cartography and when should I use it?▼

A MatchLink in Cartography connects two existing node types with rich metadata, primarily used to map data from separate sources or model complex cross-source links that standard edges cannot handle.

How do I create one-to-many relationships in a Cartography graph model?▼

You create one-to-many relationships in a Cartography graph model by flattening list-based targets into multiple edges, enabling scalable associations across tenants and shared resources.

Can I use Cartography to map cross-module relationships across multiple data sources?▼

Yes, Cartography supports cross-module mappings across multiple data sources by using MatchLinks to connect existing node types, enabling rich graph models and composable architectures.

How do I clean up and reset Cartography node relationships when data changes?▼

To clean up Cartography node relationships when data changes, you use provided maintenance routines to reset and re-load relationships, ensuring your resource graph stays synchronized with updated sources.

Do I need Neo4j to model cross-source links with Cartography MatchLinks?▼

Yes, Cartography uses Neo4j as its graph database to store nodes and define relationships, making it the required environment for implementing MatchLinks and maintaining resource graphs.
