SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

This Skill provides a pattern to fetch API data in Angular using signal-based resources, simplifying data loading, state management, and error handling with HttpClient.

Core Features & Use Cases

Signal-based HTTP data fetching with httpResource() and resource() to automatically refetch on parameter changes.
Convert Observable-based HttpClient calls to Signals for seamless reactive UI.
Use interceptors with HttpClient for auth, error handling, and logging in a centralized way.
Use Case: Build a profile or list page that fetches data from an API, displaying loading, content, and error states.

Quick Start

Create a standalone Angular component and implement a simple data fetch using httpResource for a chosen API endpoint. Bind loading, error, and value states to the template and observe automatic updates when parameters change.

FAQPage Schema

How do I fetch HTTP data in Angular using signals?▼

To fetch HTTP data in Angular using signals, utilize the httpResource() and resource() functions to automatically retrieve API data and refetch when parameters change. This approach converts Observable-based HttpClient calls into Signals for seamless reactive UI updates.

What is the best way to handle loading and error states with httpResource in Angular?▼

Handling loading and error states with httpResource involves binding the built-in loading, error, and value state accessors directly to your component template. This provides automatic UI updates across data fetching, error handling, and parameter transformations without manual state tracking.

Can I use HttpClient interceptors for authentication with signal-based resources?▼

Yes, you can use HttpClient interceptors for authentication with signal-based resources. The Skill supports standard HttpClient interceptors, allowing you to centralize auth, error handling, and logging while fetching data through resource() and httpResource() functions.

How do I convert Observable-based HttpClient calls to Signals across Angular components?▼

To convert Observable-based HttpClient calls to Signals across Angular components, implement the resource() or httpResource() wrapper. This pattern transforms your existing API calls into signal-based resources, enabling reactive data loading that automatically updates the UI when dependencies shift.

Does httpResource automatically refetch API data when parameters change?▼

Yes, httpResource automatically refetches API data when bound parameters change. By configuring signal-based resources with HttpClient, the system detects parameter updates and triggers a new request, maintaining reactive data loading without requiring manual subscription management.
