SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes scripts (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

Routes API requests through the user's residential proxy to bypass cloud IP blocks.

Core Features & Use Cases

Ad-hoc runtime fallback: retry blocked requests through the proxy when direct calls fail with 403 or IP blocks.
Template for building new skills: copy proxy_helper.py into a new skill's scripts/ directory and reuse proxy_get / proxy_request helpers.
Environment-driven configuration: set PROXY_TOKEN and ALLOWED_DOMAINS to tailor proxy usage.

Quick Start

Use the skill to route requests through the residential proxy. Example: python3 skill/fetch.py "https://api.example.com/endpoint" python3 skill/fetch.py "https://api.example.com/endpoint" POST '{"key": "value"}'

FAQPage Schema

How do I route API requests through a residential proxy to bypass 403 blocks?▼

Use the ad-hoc fetch script to retry blocked API requests through your residential proxy. It directly sends the request via your configured proxy URL and token, bypassing cloud IP blocks that return 403 errors on direct calls.

What causes an API request to fail with a 403 IP block?▼

An API request fails with a 403 IP block when the target server rejects your cloud or datacenter IP address. Routing the request through a residential proxy provides a residential IP instead, allowing the request to succeed.

How do I configure proxy routing for Python scripts using environment variables?▼

Configure proxy routing by setting the PROXY_TOKEN and ALLOWED_DOMAINS environment variables. The Python proxy helper script reads these variables to authenticate and restrict proxy requests to your specified domains.

Can I reuse proxy routing logic as a template for building new Python skills?▼

Yes, you can copy the proxy_helper.py file into a new skill's scripts directory. This allows you to reuse the proxy_get and proxy_request helpers to build new Python skills that require proxy routing functionality.

How do I make an ad-hoc POST request through a proxy in Python?▼

Make an ad-hoc POST request by executing the fetch.py script with the URL, the POST method, and a JSON payload string. The script routes the request through your residential proxy to deliver the response.

What are the limitations of using a residential proxy for API routing?▼

Limitations include dependency on your proxy provider's uptime and potential latency from routing through residential IPs. The proxy helper also restricts requests to domains configured in the ALLOWED_DOMAINS environment variable.
