SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve? Managing Apple Notes from the terminal is not natively supported, forcing users to switch to the GUI for simple note operations. This Skill lets you create, view, search, edit, move, and export Apple Notes directly from the command line, with changes syncing across all Apple devices via iCloud. ## Core Features & Use Cases - Note Management: Create, view, search (fuzzy), edit, delete, and move notes between folders using the memo CLI. - Cross-Device Sync: Notes saved through memo sync automatically to iPhone, iPad, and Mac via iCloud. - Export: Export notes to HTML or Markdown for use in other tools. - Use Case: A user asks the agent to save meeting takeaways to Apple Notes so they appear on their iPhone; the agent runs memo to create the note in the right folder without opening Notes.app. ## Quick Start Ask the agent to create a new Apple Note titled "Meeting Notes" containing your summary, or to search your existing notes for a specific keyword.

FAQPage Schema

How do I create Apple Notes from the command line on macOS?▼

Use the memo CLI with memo notes -a "Note Title" to create a note directly from the terminal. Install it first with brew tap antoniorodr/memo && brew install antoniorodr/memo/memo, then grant Automation access to Notes.app when prompted.

How do I search Apple Notes from the terminal?▼

Run memo notes -s "query" to perform a fuzzy search across your Apple Notes. You can also list all notes with memo notes or filter by folder using memo notes -f "Folder Name".

Does the memo CLI work on Linux or Windows?▼

No, memo is macOS only because it automates Apple Notes.app, which exists only on macOS. It also requires Automation permission granted in System Settings under Privacy and Security.

When should I use Apple Notes instead of Obsidian for note-taking?▼

Use Apple Notes when you want automatic cross-device sync to iPhone and iPad via iCloud. Use the obsidian skill instead for Markdown-native knowledge management with a local vault.

What are the limitations of editing Apple Notes via memo?▼

memo cannot edit notes containing images or attachments. Interactive prompts also require terminal access, so you may need pty=true when running through an agent, and the tool only works on macOS.
