SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill requires numpy, pillow, scipy, ffmpeg, and includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This skill solves the challenge of creating high-quality, stylized ASCII art animations from video, audio, or generative sources, bypassing the need for complex GPU-based rendering.

Core Features & Use Cases

Multi-Modal Conversion: Renders video files, audio-reactive music visualizers, and procedural math animations into colored ASCII character sequences.
Advanced Pipeline: Includes a 6-stage production pipeline featuring adaptive tonemapping, a 38-shader chain, and multi-grid composition for depth.
Use Case: Create a retro-styled, audio-reactive music video for a track by providing the audio file and selecting a specific character palette and shader mood.

Quick Start

Use the ascii-video skill to convert the video file input.mp4 into a colored ASCII animation using the retro terminal shader mood.

Frequently Asked Questions about ascii-video

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I convert a video into a colored ASCII animation?▼

To convert video into colored ASCII animation, you can use a multi-stage Python rendering pipeline that transforms media inputs into stylized character sequences. This approach applies adaptive tonemapping and shader chains to ensure high-fidelity output.

Can I create audio-reactive music visualizers using ASCII characters?▼

Yes, you can create audio-reactive music visualizers by providing an audio file to a Python rendering pipeline that generates procedural ASCII animations. The system processes the audio input and maps it to colored character sequences.

Do I need a GPU to render high-quality ASCII art animations?▼

No, a GPU is not required to render high-quality ASCII art animations. This approach implements hardware-aware parallel processing and a modular shader system to produce high-fidelity output on standard hardware.

What Python dependencies are required for video to ASCII conversion?▼

Video to ASCII conversion requires the Python dependencies numpy, pillow, scipy, and ffmpeg. These libraries support the multi-stage rendering pipeline, image processing, and video encoding necessary for generating animations.

What is the best way to generate procedural ASCII art from math animations?▼

The best way to generate procedural ASCII art is by using a modular shader system with a 38-shader chain and multi-grid composition. This technique renders math animations into depth-aware colored character sequences without GPU requirements.
