SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Backend design teams often spend excessive time shaping API contracts, data models, and validation rules, leading to inconsistent interfaces and fragile migrations.

Core Features & Use Cases

API schema design with Pydantic models and type safety
Database schema design with relationships, indexes, and constraints
Validation pattern guidance using Field() constraints and Enums
Documentation of contracts in KB and generation of migration notes
Supported workflows for design reviews, KB updates, and architecture decisions
Use Case: Designing a new service with public API and DB, including migration plan

Quick Start

Use the Backend Design Specialist to draft API schemas, database tables, and validation rules for a new service and document them in KB.

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I design database schemas with relationships and constraints for a new service?▼

Designing database schemas with relationships and constraints involves defining SQL table structures, indexes, and validation rules. This Skill automates generating these models alongside Pydantic-based API contracts and KB documentation for new backend services.

How do I use Pydantic models and Field constraints for API validation patterns?▼

Using Pydantic models for API validation patterns involves applying Field() constraints and Enums to enforce type safety. This Skill provides guidance on drafting these schemas to ensure robust interfaces and consistent API contracts.

What is the best way to document API contracts and database schemas in a knowledge base?▼

Documenting API contracts and database schemas in a knowledge base requires structuring interface definitions and migration notes clearly. This Skill automates KB documentation updates, capturing architecture decisions and design reviews for new services.

Can I generate SQL table designs and schema migration plans at the same time?▼

Generating SQL table designs and schema migration plans simultaneously is possible when evolving database schemas. This Skill supports workflows for designing new services by drafting relational tables and mapping migration notes together.

Does backend API design require separate tools for validation rules and database schemas?▼

Backend API design does not require separate tools for validation rules and database schemas if using an automated planner. This Skill unifies Pydantic model generation, SQL table design, and KB documentation updates in one workflow.

Why do backend design teams need automated planning for API contracts and schema migrations?▼

Automated planning for API contracts and schema migrations prevents inconsistent interfaces and fragile database updates. This Skill reduces excessive manual shaping of data models, validation rules, and architecture documentation.
