SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Story-driven narrative design documentation is automated and standardized by following BMAD core tasks and a fixed narrative workflow, reducing manual drafting time and inconsistencies.

Core Features & Use Cases

Automated generation of narrative design documents guided by the BMAD workflow.
Enforced, deterministic process that loads core tasks, applies the narrative workflow, and saves outputs after each section.
Use Case: teams documenting BMAD-driven projects across research, design, and product to produce consistent narrative briefs.

Quick Start

Load the BMAD core workflow and run it against _bmad/gds/workflows/2-design/narrative/workflow.yaml to generate the narrative document.

FAQPage Schema

How do I automate narrative design documentation for BMAD workflows?▼

You can automate narrative design documentation by loading the BMAD core workflow.xml and passing the _bmad/gds/workflows/2-design/narrative/workflow.yaml configuration file as a parameter to execute the guided narrative generation process.

What is the BMAD narrative workflow used for in product design?▼

The BMAD narrative workflow is used for standardizing story-driven design documentation across research, design, and product teams. It reduces manual drafting time and inconsistencies by enforcing a fixed, deterministic process for generating narrative briefs in BMAD-driven projects.

Do I need a specific project structure to run the BMAD narrative workflow?▼

Yes, running the BMAD narrative workflow requires a specific project structure containing project-root/_bmad/core/tasks/workflow.xml and _bmad/gds/workflows/2-design/narrative/workflow.yaml. The workflow reads these files to execute its core tasks and save the generated documentation.

How does the BMAD workflow process generate and save narrative documents?▼

The BMAD workflow process generates narrative documents by reading the core workflow.xml instructions, applying the narrative workflow.yaml configuration, and following the instructions exactly. It saves outputs incrementally after completing each section of the design document.

Can I use this narrative design workflow for team-based product documentation?▼

Yes, this narrative design workflow is built for research, design, and product teams documenting BMAD-driven projects. It produces consistent narrative briefs by applying an automated, standardized process that eliminates manual drafting inconsistencies across team members.
