SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill requires python, kicad, digikey, mouser, lcsc, element14, jlcpcb, pcbway, and includes scripts (resource) and references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill automates BOM management, coordinating between distributors and fabricators to streamline the process of sourcing, pricing, ordering, and fabricating electronics components.

Core Features & Use Cases

BOM Lifecycle Management: Handle the full lifecycle of BOMs, including analysis, distributor searches, part validation, and order generation.
Multi-Distributor Coordination: Works with DigiKey, Mouser, LCSC, element14, JLCPCB, PCBWay, and KiCad skills to cover all aspects of BOM management.
Use Case: When you need to create a BOM for a new electronics project, this Skill will analyze your KiCad schematics, suggest parts, validate against datasheets, and generate order files for different distributors.

Quick Start

Run the bom skill to analyze the BOM for the current KiCad project directory.

FAQPage Schema

How do I automate BOM management and generate orders from a KiCad project?▼

BOM management is automated by analyzing KiCad schematics to validate parts and generate order files across distributors. The Skill coordinates the full lifecycle from component sourcing to final order generation.

Can I compare electronics component pricing across DigiKey, Mouser, and LCSC?▼

Yes, you can compare pricing across DigiKey, Mouser, LCSC, and element14. The Skill coordinates multi-distributor searches to validate parts and streamline component sourcing for your BOM.

Do I need Python and KiCad to use this BOM coordination workflow?▼

Yes, Python and KiCad are required for this BOM coordination workflow. Python enables scripting for automation, while KiCad provides the schematic analysis needed for part validation and distributor integration.

What is the best way to coordinate PCB fabrication with JLCPCB or PCBWay?▼

The best way to coordinate fabrication with JLCPCB or PCBWay is using a BOM management Skill that integrates with fabricator APIs. It validates KiCad schematics and generates the necessary order files.

How does automated component validation work for electronic BOMs?▼

Automated component validation works by analyzing KiCad schematics and validating suggested parts against datasheets. This ensures accuracy before generating orders across distributors like DigiKey and Mouser.
