SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

This process-oriented skill helps teams clarify ambiguous requirements, align on goals, and design a plan before diving into implementation by structuring questions and decisions.

Core Features & Use Cases

Phase-driven approach: A structured sequence (Assess, Understand, Explore, Capture, Handoff) to uncover intent and constraints.
One-question-at-a-time exploration: Prompts users with minimal, focused questions to avoid scope creep.
Design documentation handoff: Produces a concise brief that guides planning and execution. Use Case: A product team unsure about a new feature starts with a brainstorm to surface acceptance criteria and success metrics before writing requirements.

Quick Start

Begin a brainstorming session by clarifying the core problem and constraints, then proceed with Phase 1 questions.

FAQPage Schema

How do I structure brainstorming sessions for ambiguous feature requests?▼

Structure brainstorming sessions using a phase-driven methodology that assesses requirement clarity, understands the idea, explores approaches, captures the design, and hands off documentation. This prevents scope creep by prompting one focused question at a time.

What is the best way to clarify early design exploration before writing requirements?▼

The best way to clarify early design exploration is through a structured assessment phase that surfaces acceptance criteria and success metrics, producing a concise design brief to guide planning and execution.

How do I guide a planning session when multiple approaches exist?▼

Guide planning sessions by exploring approaches sequentially after understanding the core idea and constraints. This phase-based exploration aligns teams on goals before implementation begins.

Can I use a structured ideation process to manage project risk and decision-making?▼

Yes, a structured ideation process manages project risk by capturing constraints and decisions during the design phase. It guides focused documentation to ensure risks are addressed before handoff.

Does this brainstorming methodology work for aligning product teams on goals?▼

Yes, this methodology works for aligning product teams by asking minimal, focused questions to uncover intent. It helps teams agree on success metrics and constraints before development.
