SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Teams often struggle to convert vague ideas into concrete design directions, leading to wasted effort and scope drift. This skill provides a structured ideation workflow that surfaces requirements, constraints, and success criteria before implementation.

Core Features & Use Cases

Structured inquiry: explore context, ask clarifying questions one at a time, and capture requirements.
Multi-approach design: propose 2-3 viable design approaches with trade-offs and a recommended option.
Design validation: present the design in sections and obtain user approval before transitioning to implementation.
Documentation transition: write a formal design doc and handoff to the implementation planning stage.

Quick Start

Begin brainstorming by exploring the project context, asking clarifying questions one at a time, and proposing 2–3 approaches with a recommended option.

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I turn vague product ideas into validated designs before implementation?▼

To turn vague product ideas into validated designs, use a structured brainstorming workflow that explores project context, asks clarifying questions one at a time, and captures specific functional or technical requirements before proposing design directions.

What is the best way to prevent scope drift during project planning and ideation?▼

The best way to prevent scope drift during project planning is to apply structured inquiry that surfaces project constraints, context, and success criteria, followed by obtaining user approval for design approaches before any implementation begins.

How do I evaluate multiple design approaches and trade-offs for a new feature?▼

To evaluate multiple design approaches, generate 2-3 viable options with distinct trade-offs and a recommended option, allowing your team to compare technical requirements and select the most suitable direction before transitioning to implementation planning.

Can I use structured brainstorming for complex product initiatives and not just simple features?▼

Yes, you can use structured brainstorming for complex product initiatives as the ideation workflow applies to projects of varying scope by iteratively exploring context and proposing stepwise design validation before development.

How do I transition from a validated design to an implementation plan?▼

To transition from a validated design to an implementation plan, write a formal design document capturing the approved approach, then hand off the documentation directly to the implementation planning stage to guide development.
