SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Brainstorming helps teams align on intent, requirements, and design before implementation, preventing scope creep and rework.

Core Features & Use Cases

Proposes 2-3 design options with trade-offs and recommendations.
Defines HOTL contracts (Intent, Verification, Governance) and creates a design doc.
Facilitates one-at-a-time clarifying questions to reach approved design before coding.

Quick Start

Provide a design brief and ask one clarifying question to start.

Frequently Asked Questions about brainstorming

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I prevent scope creep during feature planning and design reviews?▼

To prevent scope creep during feature planning, you clarify and lock design intent before implementation. This involves defining explicit governance contracts and producing a formal design doc to align team requirements and prevent rework.

What is a HOTL contract and how does it work for design scoping?▼

A HOTL contract formalizes design scoping by explicitly defining intent, verification, and governance. It creates a locked design agreement that guides implementation and ensures teams align on requirements before coding begins.

How do I create a design doc when requirements are uncertain or evolving?▼

To create a design doc with uncertain requirements, use a one-question-at-a-time clarification process. This method proposes design options with trade-offs, ultimately producing a formal design doc locked by explicit governance contracts.

What is the best way to evaluate design options and trade-offs before implementation?▼

The best way to evaluate design options is to propose 2-3 alternatives with explicit trade-offs and recommendations. This structured brainstorming approach ensures approved design decisions are reached through one-at-a-time clarifying questions.

Do I need a design brief to start locking design intent?▼

Yes, you need a design brief to start locking design intent. Providing an initial brief allows the brainstorming process to begin evaluating requirements through targeted clarifying questions before generating formal contracts.
