SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

Founders often pick names that work in their home language but fail abroad — carrying unintended meanings, awkward pronunciations, or unregistrable descriptive wording in target markets. This Skill systematically vets or generates business, brand, and product names so they stay authentic to the founder's origin while landing professionally in the markets where the company will sell.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Cross-Market Name Checks: Runs every candidate through meaning, look-alike, pronunciation, spelling, sound, tone, and origin-authenticity checks, once per target market.
  • Trademark Distinctiveness Screening: Classifies names on the WIPO scale (generic, descriptive, suggestive, arbitrary, coined) separately per market, flagging weak or unregistrable names.
  • Constrained Name Generation: Suggests 3-5 candidates that simultaneously satisfy origin authenticity, industry professionalism, and target-market cleanliness, presented in a compact verdict table.
  • Use Case: A Persian founder expanding a childcare brand to Dubai and Doha discovers the Latin spelling of the name forms a crude English word; the Skill recommends a respelling that preserves pronunciation while removing the problem.

Quick Start

Ask the assistant to check whether your business name works in your target markets, or to suggest new names rooted in your origin language for a specific industry and region.

Frequently Asked Questions about business-name-fit

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema
How do I check if my business name works in other languages?

Run the name through per-market checks for unintended meanings, look-alike words, pronunciation difficulty, and spelling problems in each target language. Include slang and native-speaker review, since automated checks cannot confirm every connotation.

How do I choose a business name that can be trademarked?

Prefer suggestive, arbitrary, or coined names, which the WIPO distinctiveness scale classifies as strong and registrable. Generic and descriptive names are weak and often refused registration, so a founder can build on them without ever owning them.

What makes a good brand name for international markets?

A strong international name is short (about three syllables or fewer), easy to say and spell after one hearing, free of diacritics, and clean of negative meanings in each target language. It should also match the naming conventions of the industry and region.

Can a name be linguistically fine but still legally weak?

Yes. A name can pass every meaning and sound check yet be generic or descriptive for its product category, making it hard or impossible to register as a trademark. Distinctiveness must be judged separately from linguistic safety, and separately per market.

Does this Skill verify trademark or domain availability?

No. It cannot search trademark registers, domain availability, or business registries. Every session ends with a verification checklist directing the founder to search each target market's trademark register, secure domains and handles, and get a native-speaker gut check.
