System Documentation

What problem does it solve?

This skill provides a modular visual system for Unity that preserves a stable, Spine2D-ready API across a 2.5D character pipeline, enabling consistent body-part management (eyes, hands, ears) and race presets while preparing for future rendering back-ends.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Billboarding: ensure 2D sprites always face the camera within a 3D world.
  • Body parts architecture: a hub (CharacterBodyPartsController) with EyesController and HandsController that expose a stable API (SetClosed, SetPose, SetCategory).
  • Presets and initialization: support race presets (RaceSO) and default skin/color application across sub-controllers.
  • Migration-ready design: preserves the logical API during Spine2D migration, so gameplay code remains unaffected by rendering technology changes.
  • Extendability: documents how to integrate with broader visuals (clothing, shadows, and future rigs) via a central Visuals architecture.

Quick Start

Initialize a character by configuring a RaceSO preset and drive the visual body parts through the CharacterBodyPartsController.
