SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill requires xlsx, python, and includes scripts (resource) and references (resource) and assets (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill addresses the challenge of comparing competitors across financial, strategic, and operational dimensions, providing a structured, normalized view to aid in competitive analysis.

Core Features & Use Cases

Competitor Comparison: Builds a grid comparing competitors across defined dimensions.
Normalization: Metrics are normalized to a common 1-5 scale for easy comparison.
Weighted Scoring: Calculates a weighted overall score for each competitor.
Visualizations: Includes heat maps and radar charts for visual analysis.
Use Case: Ideal for market-entry studies, board presentations, or strategic planning sessions where a structured competitive landscape is needed.

Quick Start

Run the competitive-benchmarking-grid skill with the competitors and dimensions you want to analyze.

Frequently Asked Questions about competitive-benchmarking-grid

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I create a competitor analysis grid in Excel with normalized data?▼

To create a competitor analysis grid in Excel, this Skill normalizes your financial and operational metrics to a 1-5 scale, calculates weighted scores, and outputs a structured grid with heat maps and radar charts for visual comparison.

What's the best way to compare competitors across different financial dimensions?▼

The best way to compare competitors across financial dimensions is by normalizing disparate metrics to a common 1-5 scale and applying weighted scores, which this Skill automates to produce a structured competitive landscape grid in Excel.

Do I need Python to generate heat maps and radar charts for benchmarking in Excel?▼

Yes, you need Python installed alongside Excel to execute this Skill, as it uses Python scripts to process the benchmarking data, calculate weighted scores, and generate the heat maps and radar charts.

Can I use this competitive benchmarking approach for strategic market-entry studies?▼

Yes, you can use this competitive benchmarking approach for market-entry studies, as it normalizes strategic and operational metrics to a 1-5 scale, making it ideal for board presentations and structured strategic planning sessions.

How does data normalization to a 1-5 scale work for competitor comparison?▼

Data normalization for competitor comparison works by scaling raw financial, strategic, and operational metrics into a standardized 1-5 range, allowing you to calculate weighted overall scores and visualize relative performance using heat maps.

Are there limitations to using Excel and Python for weighted competitor scoring?▼

A limitation of using Excel and Python for weighted competitor scoring is that you must have both environments properly configured to execute the scripts, and the analysis relies on your ability to define accurate dimensions and weights beforehand.
