SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Competitive research goes stale the moment it ships, but regenerating full reports every week buries real signals in unchanged prose. This Skill diffs the current market against your previous competitive snapshot and reports only what materially changed, so battle cards and positioning stay current without repeated research effort.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Delta Monitoring: Sweeps competitor sites, pricing pages, job posts, press, and filings, then reports only shifts that clear a materiality bar — changes a sales rep, pricing owner, or roadmap owner would act on.
  • Cited Changelog Output: Every claimed change carries a URL and date, labeled Fact or Inference with a confidence rating, in a stable schema that makes runs diffable against each other.
  • Update Flags: Each material shift names the downstream artifact it stales — battle card sections, positioning statements, pricing analysis, or roadmap assumptions.
  • Use Case: Paste last quarter's competitive snapshot and run a monthly watch; the Skill returns a changelog of two pricing and hiring shifts, flags the battle card sections now outdated, and logs below-the-bar signals to a watchlist for next run.

Quick Start

Run a competitive intel watch against my pasted prior snapshot and tell me what materially changed this cycle, with evidence and update flags for my battle card.

FAQPage Schema
How do I monitor competitors for changes on a schedule?

Provide your previous competitive snapshot as the baseline and invoke the watch on a recurring cadence. The skill sweeps pricing pages, release notes, press, job postings, and news, then reports only material shifts with cited evidence — an empty changelog is a valid result.

What counts as a material competitive change worth reporting?

A change is material if a sales rep, pricing owner, or roadmap owner would plausibly act on it: pricing or packaging changes, launches, deprecations, positioning shifts, leadership moves, funding, or major customer wins. Cosmetic site changes and routine content marketing stay below the bar.

Can I run a competitive watch without a prior snapshot?

Yes. With no prior snapshot, the skill falls back to baseline mode and produces a first snapshot using the competitive-research-snapshot structure, then stops. The delta-monitoring value begins on the second run once that baseline exists.

How is this different from a full competitive research report?

A watch reports change, not state — it diffs against the prior snapshot instead of regenerating it. Use a full competitive research snapshot when no baseline exists or the market scope itself has changed; use the watch for ongoing cadence monitoring.

What evidence does each reported competitive change include?

Every changelog entry carries a URL and a date, is labeled Fact or Inference, includes a confidence rating of high, medium, or low, and explains why it clears the materiality bar. Undated or uncited claims are not reported.
