SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill automates the process of designing system architecture, generating essential documentation like Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), component diagrams, and interface definitions.

Core Features & Use Cases

ADR Generation: Creates structured ADRs for key architectural decisions.
Diagramming: Produces visual component diagrams (Mermaid/ASCII) to illustrate system structure.
Interface Definition: Defines clear, typed interface signatures for services and data.
Use Case: When starting a new feature that requires significant architectural changes, use this Skill to systematically document the design, decisions, and interfaces, ensuring clarity and maintainability.

Quick Start

Use the create-architecture skill to design the architecture for a new user authentication service.

Frequently Asked Questions about create-architecture

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

What is an Architecture Decision Record and when do I need one?▼

An Architecture Decision Record (ADR) documents key architectural decisions, evaluating alternatives and consequences. You need ADRs when designing system architecture to ensure structured decision-making and maintainability for significant feature changes.

How do I generate component diagrams for system architecture documentation?▼

You can generate component diagrams for system architecture using Mermaid or ASCII formats. The design process produces visual component diagrams that illustrate system structure and adhere to diagramming standards for clarity and consistency.

How do I define typed interfaces for services during architecture design?▼

Interface definition during architecture design involves defining clear, typed interface signatures for services and data. This ensures that component interactions are explicitly specified, supporting system maintainability and structured documentation.

What is the best way to document architectural decisions for a new service?▼

The best way to document architectural decisions is by generating ADRs alongside component diagrams and interface definitions. This systematic approach evaluates alternatives and documents consequences, ensuring clarity for new services like user authentication.

Can I use Mermaid diagrams for system architecture design documentation?▼

Yes, Mermaid diagrams are supported for system architecture design documentation. The architecture design process produces visual component diagrams in Mermaid or ASCII format, adhering to diagramming standards to illustrate system structure clearly.

What should I include in system architecture documentation for a new feature?▼

System architecture documentation for a new feature should include Architecture Decision Records, component diagrams, and interface definitions. This combination ensures structured decision-making by evaluating alternatives and documenting consequences for maintainability.
