FAQPage Schema

How do I document a GitHub Actions workflow for compliance audits?▼

Document a GitHub Actions workflow for audits by generating a formal specification that articulates goals, triggers, jobs, inputs, outputs, constraints, and governance. This implementation-agnostic format clarifies CI/CD behavior for compliance reviews.

What is a workflow specification and when do I need one for CI/CD?▼

A workflow specification is a structured, implementation-agnostic document describing a CI/CD pipeline's goals and constraints. You need one when GitHub Actions workflows become complex and require clear team alignment or contributor onboarding documentation.

Can I create an AI-friendly specification from an existing GitHub Actions workflow file?▼

Yes, you can convert an existing GitHub Actions workflow file into an AI-friendly specification. The process extracts triggers, jobs, and constraints into a structured format suitable for AI-assisted analysis and guiding future updates.

Does the generated GitHub Actions specification depend on specific tooling versions?▼

No, the generated GitHub Actions specification is implementation-agnostic and does not rely on concrete tooling versions. It serves as a living blueprint that guides updates and reviews independent of specific action versions.

What's the best way to maintain complex GitHub Actions workflows as they grow?▼

The best way to maintain complex GitHub Actions workflows is creating a formal specification acting as a living blueprint. This document guides updates, reviews, and onboarding while standardizing behavior without relying on concrete tooling versions.

Are there limitations to generating implementation-agnostic specs for GitHub Actions?▼
