This Metrics Framework standardizes how teams define success by specifying a single North Star metric, the supporting input metrics, and guardrail metrics to prevent gaming. It ensures alignment across product context and measurement readiness.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Define one measurable North Star metric that reflects user value and business impact.
  • Map 3-5 input metrics across the AARRR (Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Revenue, Referral) and HEART (Happiness, Engagement, Adoption, Retention, Task success) lenses.
  • Establish 2-3 guardrail metrics to prevent unintended optimization and ensure guardrails stay intact as the North Star improves.
  • Generate a final metrics framework document at .chalk/docs/product/<n>_metrics_framework.md that teams can instrument and monitor.
