What problem does it solve?

Dev-mode fallback patterns enable local development of Go microservices without relying on external cloud infrastructure (AWS Cognito, SES, real TLS certs, etc.), ensuring local Docker Compose setups boot reliably.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Dev-auth mode: AUTH_MODE can be "dev" to bypass Cognito in local development with safe defaults.
  • Dev encryption key fallbacks: automatic, non-production encryption keys used for development.
  • MailHog-friendly SMTP defaults: local SMTP config pointing to MailHog for dev testing.
  • OTEL dev exporters: configurable no-op or local exporters to avoid external observability dependencies.
  • Docker Compose dev defaults: ready-to-run docker-compose.yml setups for local development ecosystems.

Quick Start

Start your local dev environment by running docker-compose up with AUTH_MODE=dev to enable all development fallbacks.
