FAQPage Schema

What is the best way to structure co-authored technical documentation?▼

Structured co-authoring organizes document creation into three stages: context gathering, refinement, and reader testing. This workflow ensures multiple stakeholders converge on a complete, reader-ready document efficiently.

How do I coordinate a stage-based workflow for drafting technical specs with multiple stakeholders?▼

Coordinate drafting technical specs by iteratively moving through context gathering to collect audience and constraints, refinement to draft and format sections, and reader testing to validate clarity. This stage-based workflow aligns stakeholders on the final document.

Can I use this workflow to create proposals and decision docs, or is it only for technical specs?▼

You can use this workflow to create proposals and decision docs alongside technical specs. It applies to any structured content where multiple people need to refine and validate documents through context gathering, refinement, and reader testing.

How does reader testing work when finalizing structured documentation?▼

Reader testing validates structured documentation by applying a fresh perspective to catch gaps and ambiguities. This third stage ensures completeness, clarity, and reader-readiness before the co-authored document is published.

When should I not use a structured co-authoring workflow for documentation?▼

You should not use a structured co-authoring workflow for documentation if the task requires a quick, single-author draft rather than stage-based collaboration. It is designed for structured content needing multiple stakeholders to refine and validate through context gathering and reader testing.
