Frequently Asked Questions about dora-metrics

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I measure DORA metrics to baseline my engineering team's delivery performance?▼

To measure DORA metrics, you need to establish a baseline for Deployment Frequency, Lead Time for Changes, Change Failure Rate, and MTTR. The skill diagnoses your CI/CD pipeline health and generates a prioritized improvement plan with specific actions, owners, and timelines.

What is the best way to diagnose CI/CD delivery health using DORA metrics?▼

Diagnosing CI/CD delivery health involves mapping your baseline DORA metrics to a health quadrant. This quadrant guides improvements to accelerate delivery without losing stability, helping engineering organizations identify blockers and implement targeted monitoring recommendations.

How do I create a prioritized improvement plan for software deployment frequency and lead time?▼

Creating a prioritized improvement plan for deployment frequency and lead time requires baselining your current DORA metrics. Once the baseline is set, the tool generates a concrete plan with specific actions, responsible owners, and deadlines to accelerate engineering delivery.

Do I need startup context and CI/CD information to calculate Change Failure Rate and MTTR?▼

Yes, you need to provide startup-context and cicd-info as inputs to calculate Change Failure Rate and MTTR. These inputs allow the tool to accurately baseline the four key DORA metrics and identify specific blockers affecting your engineering team's delivery stability.

Can I use this approach to improve MTTR and Change Failure Rate for my engineering organization?▼

Yes, you can improve MTTR and Change Failure Rate by establishing a baseline of these DORA metrics for your engineering organization. The tool diagnoses your delivery health quadrant and provides a focused improvement plan to reduce failure rates and recovery time.

When should I establish a DORA metrics baseline for my engineering team?▼

You should establish a DORA metrics baseline when your engineering organization needs to diagnose delivery health across CI/CD pipelines. It helps identify current blockers for Lead Time, Deployment Frequency, Change Failure Rate, and MTTR before implementing a focused improvement plan.
