SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Slopwatch detects shortcuts and reward-hacking by LLMs when editing .NET code, flagging issues that degrade test quality, code safety, or correct behavior.

Core Features & Use Cases

Detects disabled tests, warning suppression, empty catch blocks, arbitrary delays, project-level suppression, and CPM bypass.
Applies baseline comparison to distinguish new issues from existing debt, guiding safe development practices.
Useful during LLM-driven edits across C# sources, project files, and test suites to maintain code integrity.

Quick Start

Initialize a baseline with slopwatch init, then run slopwatch analyze after each LLM-generated change.

Frequently Asked Questions about dotnet-slopwatch

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I detect LLM reward hacking in .NET code changes?▼

To detect LLM reward hacking in .NET code changes, use Slopwatch to flag disabled tests, warning suppressions, empty catch blocks, arbitrary delays, and CPM bypass introduced during AI-driven edits.

What is slop in C# source files and project files?▼

Slop in C# source files and project files refers to shortcuts like disabled tests, empty catch blocks, and warning suppressions that degrade test quality, code safety, and correct behavior during LLM-driven development.

How do I use a baseline to distinguish new code issues from existing debt?▼

To distinguish new code issues from existing debt, initialize a baseline with Slopwatch before making changes, then run an analysis after LLM edits to identify only the newly introduced shortcuts and reward-hacking patterns.

Does Slopwatch work across all .NET application layers?▼

Yes, Slopwatch works across API, Application, Domain, and Infrastructure layers, applying its analysis to C# source files, project files, and test suites to maintain code integrity during LLM-driven modifications.

How do I run a slopwatch analysis after an LLM generates code?▼

To run a slopwatch analysis after an LLM generates code, execute the slopwatch analyze command to evaluate your .NET project against the established baseline for newly introduced shortcuts and reward-hacking behavior.

Do I need to install Slopwatch as a global tool to analyze .NET tests?▼

You need to install Slopwatch as either a local or global .NET tool to analyze .NET tests, which allows you to initialize a baseline and run subsequent analyses on your C# source files and project configurations.
