SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

AWS observability across services is fragmented; this skill unifies metrics, traces, logs, and security signals to give operators a cohesive view for troubleshooting and optimization.

Core Features & Use Cases

Unified visibility across AWS services (EC2, RDS, Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, SQS, API Gateway) using Dynatrace Smartscape and DQL patterns.
Reference-guided analysis with service-specific patterns and loadable references to diagnose performance, reliability, and security issues.
Cross-resource traversal to map dependencies and blast radii, enabling rapid incident analysis and impact assessment.
Use Case: Correlate CloudWatch metrics with container workloads to pinpoint a failing Lambda function and its downstream ECS tasks.

Quick Start

Run an initial AWS observability scan to generate a baseline report.

Frequently Asked Questions about dt-obs-aws

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I unify AWS observability data across multiple services for troubleshooting?▼

To unify AWS observability data, this skill parses AWS object metadata and applies DQL patterns to correlate metrics, traces, logs, and security signals across services. This provides a cohesive view for troubleshooting and optimization across your environments.

Can I correlate CloudWatch metrics with ECS and Lambda workloads to trace issues?▼

You can correlate CloudWatch metrics with container workloads to pinpoint failing Lambda functions and downstream ECS tasks. It leverages Dynatrace Smartscape cross-resource traversal to map dependencies and assess blast radius during incidents.

What is the best way to diagnose performance and security issues across EC2 and RDS?▼

Diagnosing performance and security issues across EC2 and RDS is done through reference-guided analysis with service-specific patterns. This approach loads core references to evaluate service health, trace issues, and enforce compliance.

Does this approach support cross-resource traversal for mapping dependencies in AWS?▼

Cross-resource traversal is supported to map dependencies and blast radii across AWS services. It enables rapid incident analysis and impact assessment by traversing connected resources using Dynatrace Smartscape topology data.

How do I generate a baseline report for AWS service health and compliance?▼

You can generate a baseline report for AWS service health and compliance by running an initial AWS observability scan. This scan gathers deterministic data across services like EC2, RDS, and Lambda to establish your current operational baseline.
