SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

Infrastructure teams struggle to gain visibility into host health and resource usage across cloud and on-prem environments, making capacity planning and troubleshooting slow and error-prone.

Core Features & Use Cases

Discover and inventory hosts across cloud and on-prem environments
Monitor host resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk, network)
Track process resource consumption and lifecycle
Analyze container and Kubernetes infrastructure
Discover services via listening ports
Validate data quality and metadata completeness
Plan capacity and detect resource saturation
Correlate infrastructure health across layers

Quick Start

Install the skill and connect it to your Dynatrace MCP, then begin discovering hosts and monitoring resource metrics.

Frequently Asked Questions about dt-obs-hosts

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I monitor host resource utilization across cloud and on-prem environments?▼

Host monitoring across cloud and on-prem environments is achieved by discovering hosts, collecting CPU, memory, disk, and network metrics, and correlating infrastructure health across layers. You connect to your Dynatrace MCP to begin tracking resource usage.

Can I track Kubernetes and container infrastructure health alongside host metrics?▼

Yes, Kubernetes and container infrastructure health is tracked alongside host metrics. The Skill analyzes containerized workloads, correlates their resource consumption with underlying host infrastructure, and provides cross-layer health context for capacity planning.

How do I discover services and processes running on infrastructure hosts?▼

Service and process discovery on infrastructure hosts is performed by identifying listening ports and tracking process resource consumption and lifecycle. This validates metadata completeness and ensures accurate cross-layer health correlation for capacity planning.

Does this host monitoring approach support capacity planning and resource saturation detection?▼

Yes, capacity planning and resource saturation detection are supported. The Skill validates data quality, monitors resource utilization trends, detects saturation points, and provides capacity planning guidance through predefined workflows and infrastructure references.

Do I need Dynatrace MCP to inventory and monitor infrastructure hosts?▼

Yes, connecting to your Dynatrace MCP is required to inventory and monitor infrastructure hosts. The integration enables host discovery, resource metrics collection, and cross-layer health correlation across cloud and on-prem environments.
