SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Estimate development effort by analyzing codebase complexity, affected layers, test coverage needs, and risk factors to provide justified story-point estimates.

Core Features & Use Cases

Analyze codebase and requirements to produce development effort estimates.
Produce estimates for backlog items, compare approaches, and plan capacity.
Assess technical feasibility with time estimates and risk multipliers.

Quick Start

Analyze the given user story and codebase context and return a documented effort estimate with points, confidence, and a brief justification.

Frequently Asked Questions about estimate-effort

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I estimate story points for backlog items based on codebase complexity?▼

Effort estimation maps codebase complexity, affected layers, test coverage needs, and risk factors to story points, providing a confidence level and justification to support capacity planning and feasibility assessments.

Can I use this to compare development approaches for user stories?▼

Yes, you can compare development approaches by analyzing user stories or technical tasks to generate effort estimates, enabling direct feature comparisons and feasibility assessments across software projects.

What is the best way to assess technical feasibility for a product backlog item?▼

Assess technical feasibility by analyzing the codebase and requirements to produce development effort estimates that include story points, a confidence level, and risk multipliers for the backlog item.

Does this estimate effort for tasks across different software projects?▼

Yes, it applies estimation logic to user stories, PBIs, or technical tasks across software projects by analyzing codebase complexity, affected layers, test coverage needs, and risk factors to output structured effort estimates.

How do I justify story point estimates for my development backlog?▼

You justify story point estimates by analyzing codebase complexity, affected layers, test coverage needs, and risk factors, which produces a documented estimate including a confidence level and a brief justification.

What factors should I analyze to calculate development effort and risk multipliers?▼

To calculate development effort and risk multipliers, you analyze codebase complexity, affected layers, test coverage needs, and risk factors, producing a structured estimate with a confidence level and justification.
