SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill helps you design structured, lean experiments to validate critical assumptions and hypotheses before committing significant resources, reducing risk and uncertainty.

Core Features & Use Cases

Hypothesis Definition: Guides you to formulate clear, testable hypotheses.
Experiment Type Selection: Provides a framework to choose the most appropriate experiment (e.g., Fake Door, Concierge, A/B Test) based on speed, fidelity, and goals.
Detailed Design: Outlines key elements like target audience, setup, duration, success metrics, and guardrails.
Use Case: Before launching a new feature, you need to validate if users will actually use it. This Skill helps you design a "Fake Door" experiment to gauge demand by measuring click-through rates on a non-existent feature button.

Quick Start

Design a fake door experiment to test the hypothesis that users will sign up for a new premium feature.

FAQPage Schema

How do I design lean experiments to validate product assumptions?▼

Designing lean experiments involves formulating testable hypotheses, selecting appropriate experiment types like Fake Door or A/B tests, and defining target audience, duration, success metrics, and guardrails to reduce risk before committing resources.

What is a fake door experiment and when should I use it?▼

A fake door experiment tests user demand for a non-existent feature by measuring click-through rates on a placeholder button. Use it during early product phases to validate assumptions and de-risk strategic bets before building the actual functionality.

How do I choose the right experiment type for product validation?▼

Choosing the right experiment type requires evaluating your goals based on speed and fidelity. Options range from Fake Door tests for gauging demand to Concierge tests for manual validation and A/B tests for comparing variants with defined success metrics.

What metrics and guardrails do I need for A/B testing a new feature?▼

A/B testing a new feature requires defining specific success metrics to measure hypothesis validation and setting guardrails to prevent negative impacts on existing user behavior during the experiment duration.

Can I use this approach to de-risk strategic bets in early product phases?▼

Yes, structured lean experiment design de-risks strategic bets in early product phases by validating critical assumptions with targeted experiments, ensuring resources are committed only to hypotheses supported by measurable user data.

What is the best way to formulate a testable hypothesis for product validation?▼

The best way to formulate a testable hypothesis for product validation is to clearly define the assumption, the target audience, the expected outcome, and the success metrics that will confirm or reject the hypothesis during the experiment.
