SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill guides you to emulate Richard Feynman's thinking framework to diagnose problems more honestly, surface hidden assumptions, and avoid cargo-cult approaches by offering clear, approachable explanations and practical decision rules.

Core Features & Use Cases

5 core mental models distilled from Feynman's approach (e.g., naming ≠ understanding, doubt as a tool, embracing uncertainty, concrete visualization, learning through teaching) and 8 decision heuristics for evaluating arguments.
An expression DNA for communicating insights in plain language, plus a workflow that starts from concrete examples and ends with principled conclusions.
Use cases include problem diagnosis in research, product critique, and team feedback, with templates to guide explanations and reflection.

Quick Start

Explain a complex idea as if to a sixth grader and identify the gaps you must fill with evidence.

Frequently Asked Questions about feynman-perspective

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I use Feynman's mental models for problem diagnosis in research?▼

Feynman's mental models diagnose research problems by translating his framework into actionable thinking prompts that surface hidden assumptions and test ideas through concrete visualization. The workflow starts from concrete examples and ends with principled conclusions.

What is the best way to explain complex ideas using plain language?▼

The best way to explain complex ideas using plain language is to adopt an expression DNA that communicates insights approachably, such as explaining a concept as if to a sixth grader to identify evidence gaps. This method leverages learning through teaching.

How do I identify hidden assumptions during product critique?▼

To identify hidden assumptions during product critique, apply 5 core mental models and 8 decision heuristics that evaluate arguments and question whether naming equals understanding. This structured workflow drives rigorous reflection and avoids cargo-cult approaches.

Can I use this approach to test ideas and avoid cargo-cult thinking?▼

Yes, you can use this approach to test ideas and avoid cargo-cult thinking by applying Feynman's problem-solving framework, which uses doubt as a tool and embraces uncertainty. It delivers explicit reasoning steps to evaluate arguments rigorously.

Does critical thinking with Feynman's approach work for strategic feedback scenarios?▼

Critical thinking with Feynman's approach works for strategic feedback scenarios by providing structured workflows and decision heuristics that surface assumptions and test ideas. It ensures feedback is grounded in concrete visualization and principled conclusions.
