Run npx skills find followed by your query keywords, such as npx skills find react performance. You can also browse the skills.sh leaderboard to see the most-installed skills ranked by popularity before searching.
Use npx skills add with the owner/repo@skill format, for example npx skills add vercel-labs/agent-skills@react-best-practices. Add the -g flag for global user-level installation and -y to skip confirmation prompts.
Check three signals: prefer skills with 1K+ installs, favor official sources like vercel-labs, anthropics, or microsoft, and verify the source repository has a reasonable GitHub star count. Be cautious with anything under 100 installs.
If the search returns no relevant skills, the agent can handle the task directly with its general capabilities. For recurring tasks, you can create your own skill by running npx skills init followed by your skill name.
