Run npx skills find followed by your query keywords, such as npx skills find react performance. You can also browse the skills.sh leaderboard to see the most installed skills by category before searching.

Use npx skills add with the owner/repo@skill format, for example npx skills add vercel-labs/agent-skills@react-best-practices. Add the -g flag for global user-level installation and -y to skip confirmation prompts.

Check the install count, preferring skills with over 1K installs, and verify the source reputation. Skills from official sources like vercel-labs, anthropics, or microsoft are more trustworthy, and repositories with few GitHub stars should be treated with caution.

If no relevant skill is found, the agent can help with the task directly using its general capabilities. You can also create your own skill by running npx skills init followed by your skill name.

Run npx skills check to see if updates are available for your installed skills. Then run npx skills update to update all installed skills to their latest versions.
