SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Debugging and fixing bugs in Syncpack using a scientific debugging workflow that turns symptoms into verified fixes.

Core Features & Use Cases

Structured debugging workflow (Observe, Hypothesise, Experiment, Validate, Verify) to locate root causes.
Guided, test-driven fixes that integrate with the existing Rust-based tooling and CI.
Reproducible debugging across unit/integration tests to stabilize behavior.

Quick Start

Run the failing test to reproduce the issue, then implement a focused fix and re-run the test suite.

FAQPage Schema

How do I fix failing tests in a Rust monorepo using a systematic debugging workflow?▼

To fix failing tests in a Rust monorepo, apply a structured scientific debugging workflow of observing symptoms, formulating hypotheses, running targeted experiments, and validating test-driven fixes to ensure deterministic resolution.

What is hypothesis-driven debugging and how does it resolve reproducible bugs?▼

Hypothesis-driven debugging is a systematic method that turns bug symptoms into verified fixes by identifying and reproducing failures, investigating root causes through targeted experiments, and applying test-driven fixes to stabilize behavior.

How do I reproduce a bug deterministically before applying a test-driven fix?▼

You reproduce a bug deterministically by running the failing test with minimal reproduction fixtures, then implementing a focused fix and re-running the test suite to verify the behavior is stabilized across unit and integration tests.

What do I need to run integration tests and debug issues in Syncpack?▼

You need access to the existing test suites, minimal reproduction fixtures, and the ability to modify source code and run tests to validate fixes within the Rust-based tooling and continuous integration environment.

Why are my unit tests still failing after applying an obvious code fix?▼

Unit tests remain failing after an obvious fix when the root cause was not isolated through hypothesis-driven investigation, requiring targeted experiments to locate the actual source of the reproducible bug before applying a fix.
