What problem does it solve?

The Font Switcher Dev Tool solves the challenge of evaluating and comparing multiple typefaces across a Next.js app by providing a lightweight, persistent UI to preview fonts in context, wire fonts via @font-face, and quickly switch typefaces.

  • Font ingestion: Copy font files into public/fonts/... and wire up @font-face CSS.
  • Persistent selection: FontProvider stores user choice in localStorage and applies it globally with a CSS variable.
  • Evaluation workflow: Use the floating FontSelector to rapidly compare families in-app and iterate typography decisions.

Quick Start

Use the font switcher dev tool to load a font family, wire its @font-face declarations, and render a floating UI to preview it across the app.
