What problem does it solve?
This Skill automates the determination of the correct §108 exclusion and the associated tax-attribute reductions for discharged debt reported on Form 1099-C.
Core Features & Use Cases
- Identify the applicable §108 exclusion (bankruptcy, insolvency, qualified farm indebtedness, QRPBI, or principal residence) and compute the exclusion amount.
- Apply the §108(b) attribute-reduction ordering (and optional §108(b)(5) basis-reduction election) with line-by-line validation, generate a draft Form 982, and reconcile with Schedule 1 Line 8c.
