SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

This skill defines and maintains the precise mapping between a canonical form schema and the rendered layout across UI and PDF exports, ensuring consistent field placement, multi-line handling, and regression fidelity as templates evolve.

Core Features & Use Cases

Layout specification: generate layout_spec.json with field coordinates, fonts, wrapping behavior, and line heights.
Template evolution handling: version templates, create new layout specs for new templates, run regression tests, and maintain backward compatibility.
Export & verification: map schema fields to UI controls and their PDF placements, with deterministic rendering checks.

Quick Start

Use the form-layout-mapping skill to generate a layout_spec.json for a given schema and template reference, then run the export regression suite.

FAQPage Schema

How do I map a form schema to UI and PDF layouts with consistent field placement?▼

You can map a canonical form schema to UI and PDF layouts by generating a layout_spec.json that enforces deterministic rendering rules for field coordinates, fonts, wrapping behavior, and line heights to ensure precise placement.

What is a layout spec and how does it handle multi-line text wrapping for PDF exports?▼

A layout spec is a versioned JSON output that defines precise field coordinates, fonts, wrapping behavior, and line heights to maintain multi-line handling and rendering fidelity across PDF exports.

How do I maintain backward compatibility when versioning form templates?▼

You maintain backward compatibility by versioning templates, creating new layout specs for new templates, and running regression tests to safeguard layout fidelity and deterministic rendering during template evolution.

Can I use regression testing to verify form layout fidelity during template versioning?▼

Yes, you can run an export regression suite to verify form layout fidelity, enforcing deterministic rendering checks that safeguard consistent field placement and multi-line handling as templates evolve.

Does form layout mapping work without external dependencies for UI and PDF rendering?▼

Yes, form layout mapping operates with no external dependencies, using a standalone canonical form schema to generate deterministic layout_spec.json files for both UI controls and PDF placements.

What's the best way to ensure deterministic rendering rules across UI and PDF form layouts?▼

The best way to ensure deterministic rendering is to translate a canonical form schema into a versioned layout_spec.json, applying strict rules for coordinates, fonts, and wrapping to prevent misalignment between UI and PDF outputs.
