ham-radio-network
CommunityDesign radio + home network setups safely.
System Documentation
What problem does it solve?
This Skill helps you plan and configure amateur radio operations and the supporting home-network infrastructure, including RF calculations, digital mode setup, repeater programming, coax loss estimation, and VLAN segmentation to reduce RFI and limit device exposure.
Core Features & Use Cases
- RF and antenna calculations: Select antenna/feedline approximations (dipoles, quarter-wave, wavelength), compute return/mismatch loss, and ensure SWR is tuned before transmitting.
- Digital mode and repeater configuration guidance: Configure WSJT-X/FT8 with required clock sync, set APRS parameters, and prepare CHIRP/CSV workflows for cross-radio programming.
- Network segmentation for RF and security: Build a pfSense/OPNsense VLAN plan for IoT, ham equipment, NAS/Docker hosts, and guests, with default-deny inter-VLAN rules and split-horizon DNS behavior.
- Community mesh/networking setup: Plan AREDN mesh links and choose backbone antenna approaches for supported Ubiquiti/Mikrotik hardware.
Quick Start
Ask the AI: "Plan my ham-radio + VLAN network setup for my shack, including the best antenna and feedline for my band, the coax loss estimate for my run, recommended digital mode settings (FT8/APRS), and a pfSense VLAN firewall plan that isolates IoT while allowing my ham servers."
