What problem does it solve?

Hermes Self-Evolution identifies opportunities to improve Mercury's skill definitions by offline mutation of SKILL.md using execution traces and constraint gates. It runs a corpus of traces, mutates SKILL.md, and produces PR-ready improvements for review.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Offline DSPy + GEPA pipeline that reads traces from Claude Code, Copilot, or Mercury sessions.
  • Proposes textual mutations to SKILL.md files and validates them via constraint gates (tests, size caps, benchmarks).
  • Emits PR-ready improvements and supports updating Mercury's skill catalogue under ~/.mercury/skills/.
  • Use cases: when a skill misfires, when there is a dataset of session traces for tuning, or for periodic maintenance across top-used skills.
