What problem does it solve?

It prevents document-based history lessons from turning into flat reading lists by designing a sequenced document set that creates productive analytical tension around a central question.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Designs evidentiary environments: recommends which sources to include and how they uniquely contribute to the investigation rather than simply covering a topic.
  • Builds analytical tensions: creates contradictions, complementarities, and complications so students must practise corroboration and other historical thinking moves.
  • Supports skill-aligned sequencing: maps which documents best afford sourcing, close reading, contextualisation, and corroboration, with a rationale for the reading order.
  • Audits representation: identifies whose perspectives are present and absent, acknowledges historically significant silences, and suggests ways to address gaps.

Quick Start

Use the historical-document-set-curator skill to design a 4-document set for a new lesson by providing a central question, student level, and target skills.
