System Documentation

What problem does it solve?

Teachers struggle to make expert historical reasoning visible, so students see outputs (answers) without understanding the thinking moves behind sourcing, contextualising, close reading, and (optionally) corroborating evidence across documents.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Document-specific think-aloud modelling: generates a rehearsable teacher script that models how to read this particular historical document rather than giving a generic “how historians think.”
  • Strategy-ordered reasoning: guides the modelling in the natural expert sequence (typically sourcing → contextualisation → close reading → corroboration) with explicit pauses and uncertainty to demonstrate productive ignorance.
  • Instructional transition support: includes annotated cognitive moves, common pitfalls to avoid, and a clear handover plan to move students from modelling to guided practice.

Quick Start

Use the historical-thinking-strategy-modelling-guide skill by providing the document description, the target strategies, and the student level so it returns a complete think-aloud script, annotated moves, pitfalls, and a transition plan.
