SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

This Skill helps teams design comprehensive test strategies using Holistic Testing principles evolved with PACT (Proactive, Autonomous, Collaborative, Targeted) to improve quality across Classical, AI-assisted, agent-based, or agentic systems, reducing bugs and shortening feedback loops.

Core Features & Use Cases

PACT-aligned strategy: Guides teams to be proactive, autonomous, collaborative, and targeted in testing.
Quadrant planning: Distinguishes technology-facing vs business-facing test domains to balance coverage.
Agent coordination: Selects and orchestrates agents to implement a robust, end-to-end testing approach.

Quick Start

Tell Claude Code: "Design a PACT-based holistic testing plan for a new AI-assisted service and propose initial quadrants and agents."

FAQPage Schema

How do I design a comprehensive test strategy for AI-assisted or agent-based systems?▼

Holistic testing with PACT principles guides you to plan proactive, autonomous, collaborative, and targeted test strategies. Divide testing into quadrants—technology-facing and business-facing domains—then orchestrate agents to cover each quadrant, ensuring balanced coverage and fast feedback loops across classical, AI-assisted, or agentic systems.

What is PACT-based holistic testing and how does it improve software quality?▼

PACT stands for Proactive, Autonomous, Collaborative, and Targeted testing. It embeds quality into teams by enforcing quadrant coverage, proactive risk analysis, autonomous team participation, feedback-driven governance, and scalable instrumentation. This approach reduces bugs and shortens feedback cycles in modern software systems.

How do I orchestrate agents to implement an end-to-end testing approach?▼

Agent orchestration in PACT-based testing involves selecting and coordinating agents to execute tests across identified quadrants. Agents work autonomously within their domain while collaborating on shared quality goals, enabling comprehensive coverage and reducing manual test overhead in complex systems.

When should I use holistic testing instead of traditional testing strategies?▼

Use holistic testing when building classical, AI-assisted, agent-based, or agentic systems where traditional approaches miss interdependencies. It's essential for teams needing faster feedback, proactive risk detection, and autonomous testing capabilities that scale with system complexity.

What prerequisites do I need before designing a PACT-based testing plan?▼

You need clarity on your system's functional requirements, understanding of technology-facing versus business-facing test domains, and readiness to involve autonomous and collaborative team participation. No specific tools or frameworks are required—PACT applies to any software delivery context.

How do I measure and instrument testing for governance and metrics?▼

PACT enforces scalable instrumentation to collect feedback and metrics across quadrants. Set up proactive monitoring aligned with your testing plan, track autonomous agent performance, and use collaborative feedback loops to drive governance decisions and continuous improvement.
