How do I know if my short-haul drivers need an ELD or paper RODS?▼

Short-haul drivers qualify for an ELD exemption if they stay within the 150 air-mile radius and return to their work-reporting location within the required timeframe; otherwise, full RODS or ELD compliance becomes necessary.

Can I use the short-haul exception to avoid ELD requirements for local routes?▼

To prepare for roadside inspections, verify that short-haul driver time records include accurate start and end times, total on-duty hours, and return-to-location confirmation to meet FMCSA documentation expectations.

What happens if a driver exceeds the 150 air-mile limit under the short-haul exception?▼
