SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Translate raw correlation_spec.json data into meaningful JMeter variable names to improve script readability and reliability.

Core Features & Use Cases

Auto-naming of correlations from source fields, URLs, and step context to produce descriptive variable names
Enforces uniqueness and applies snake_case naming conventions to prevent collisions across correlations
Generates or updates correlation_naming.json for JMeter scripts in performance-testing pipelines
Use case: when correlation_spec.json exists from network captures and you need consistent parameterization in generated JMX scripts

Quick Start

Run the naming engine on your correlation_spec.json to produce correlation_naming.json

Frequently Asked Questions about jmeter-correlation-naming

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I standardize JMeter correlation variable names from a network capture?▼

Standardize JMeter correlation variable names by translating correlation_spec.json data into descriptive, snake_case variables. The engine auto-generates names from source fields, URLs, and step context to ensure scripts remain readable and reliable.

What is the best way to prevent variable name collisions in JMeter parameterization?▼

Prevent variable name collisions in JMeter parameterization by enforcing strict uniqueness and naming conventions. The engine processes correlation specifications to ensure every generated variable name is unique and adheres to a standardized format.

How do I generate a correlation_naming.json file for JMeter performance testing pipelines?▼

Generate a correlation_naming.json file by running the naming engine on your existing correlation_spec.json. This produces the structured naming output required for consistent parameterization in automated performance-testing pipelines.

Can I apply custom naming mappings for JMeter correlations?▼

Yes, you can apply custom naming mappings for JMeter correlations by defining them in correlation_config.yaml. The engine respects these custom_mappings while enforcing naming conventions and handling both found and orphan correlations.

How do I handle orphan correlations found during JMeter network analysis?▼

Handle orphan correlations during JMeter network analysis by running the naming engine's review scenarios. It identifies orphaned correlations alongside found ones, enforcing unique snake_case names and providing guidance for validation and reuse.

Does this correlation naming approach work without external dependencies?▼

Yes, this correlation naming approach works without external dependencies. It directly processes correlation_spec.json files and applies custom mappings from correlation_config.yaml to generate standardized variable names for your JMeter scripts.
