High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How does short-form video federation work in the Fediverse?▼

Loops federates short-form video content by using ActivityPub Note objects with video attachments instead of Video objects, ensuring broad cross-platform compatibility across the Fediverse. It implements instance actors, shared inboxes, and HTTP Signatures for secure content distribution.

Why use Note objects instead of Video objects for federating video content?▼

Loops uses Note objects instead of Video objects for federating short-form video to maximize cross-platform compatibility across the Fediverse. This design choice ensures that video attachments are recognized and displayed correctly by diverse ActivityPub-compatible platforms.

How do I implement WebFinger discovery and HTTP Signatures for ActivityPub video sharing?▼

You implement WebFinger discovery and HTTP Signatures by setting up instance actors and shared inboxes to securely process federated ActivityPub video content. Loops provides a reference implementation for these core federation protocols and its graph-walking comment validator.

How does Loops compare to PeerTube for Fediverse video hosting?▼

Loops differs from PeerTube by focusing specifically on short-form video and utilizing Note objects with video attachments for broader cross-platform compatibility. PeerTube uses traditional Video objects, while Loops implements a graph-walking comment validator for federation.

Can I federate TikTok-style short-form video across different ActivityPub platforms?▼

You can federate TikTok-style short-form video across different ActivityPub platforms by packaging the media as Note objects with video attachments. This strategy ensures that instances without native short-form video support can still receive and display the content.
