What problem does it solve?

Lang’s Game Design helps you diagnose why a tabletop game’s mechanics, factions, victory conditions, and overall play experience feel off—then guides you to redesign with concrete, tenet-driven recommendations instead of generic advice.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Tenet-driven redesign: Selects the most relevant of Lang’s 28 tenets and applies them directly to your specific mechanic or system.
  • Structural diagnosis over surface fixes: Targets root causes like cosmetic asymmetry, coupled resource/victory systems, overly complex win conditions, and runaway complexity via the complexity budget.
  • Actionable recommendations: Produces “do X to achieve Y” directions and explicitly flags tradeoffs (what complexity or constraints you’re accepting).
  • Best-fit use cases: Faction and asymmetric design, victory condition and resource engine architecture, deckbuilding constraints, hand/board decision depth, and complexity budgeting for new mechanics or expansions.
