SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes scripts (resource) and references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

Keeping up with fast-moving AI news and X (Twitter) discussions requires manually checking dozens of sources, and social signals are noisy and hard to authenticate. This Skill merges public news sources and high-signal X timelines into one ranked, cross-checked brief.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Dual-track evidence collection: Gathers public sources (Hacker News, GitHub, RSS, official blogs) and X discussion signals in parallel, then merges, deduplicates, and ranks them by source quality, freshness, and engagement.
  • Authenticated X sampling: Manages X login cookies via CDP browser automation, validates them, and samples high-signal account timelines before falling back to Home feed or search.
  • Structured outputs: Produces summaries organized as Hot Topics / Viewpoints / Opportunities, optional one-page Markdown briefs, and shareable HTML reports.
  • Use Case: Ask for the latest AI trends this week and receive a cross-checked brief covering OpenAI, Anthropic, and agent-tooling discussions with reference links.

Quick Start

Summarize the most important AI news and X discussions from the last 7 days as hot topics, viewpoints, and opportunities.

FAQPage Schema
How do I summarize the latest AI news from the last 7 days?

Run the skill with a request for recent AI news and it collects public sources like Hacker News, GitHub, and official blogs in parallel with X timeline sampling. Results are merged, deduplicated, and presented as Hot Topics, Viewpoints, and Opportunities.

How do I collect X posts without using the search API?

The skill uses browser-based collection through agent-browser with a validated login cookie stored at /tmp/last_7_days_news_x_cookie.txt. It samples high-signal profile timelines first and only uses Home feed or search as fallbacks.

Why does X cookie validation fail even though the file exists?

File existence does not prove the session is still authenticated. Run scripts/validate_x_cookies.py to actively test login, and if it fails, refresh with scripts/ensure_x_cookies.sh and re-export the cookie.

Can I generate a shareable HTML report of AI trends?

Yes, pass the collected JSON data to scripts/generate_report.py, which renders an interactive HTML report using scripts/template.html with search, sorting, and engagement metrics. A one-page Markdown summary can also be written to survey/summary-one-page.md.

What are the limitations of using X Home feed for trend analysis?

Home feed is noisy and unsuitable as primary evidence for broad AI trend conclusions, especially when filtered by short keywords like ai. The skill treats it only as a supplement when high-signal timeline sampling is insufficient.
