SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Lean PRD provides a compact, executable specification focused on Business Rules and Workflow for AI-first engineering, reducing ambiguity and speeding up implementation.

Core Features & Use Cases

Focus on Business Rules and Workflow to enable automatic translation into Gherkin features and UI wireframes
Generate testable rules and a state-machine workflow that guides engineering from spec to code
Output to prd-to-gherkin and prd-to-mockup so teams can validate with automated tests and wireframes

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I write a lean PRD with testable business rules and workflows?▼

To write a lean PRD, provide your feature requirements and scope to generate a specification centered on testable business rules and state-machine workflows. This reduces ambiguity by outputting a structured document ready for engineering review.

What is an executable spec for AI-first engineering projects?▼

An executable spec is a compact PRD focused on business rules and workflows that AI agents can directly process. It enforces must-have rules and testable acceptance criteria to reduce ambiguity and speed up implementation.

How do I convert PRD business rules into Gherkin features?▼

You can convert the generated PRD into Gherkin features by feeding the output to a prd-to-gherkin tool. The lean PRD structures business rules and workflows specifically to enable this automatic translation for automated testing.

Can I generate UI wireframes from a lean PRD?▼

Yes, you can generate UI wireframes by feeding the lean PRD output to a prd-to-mockup tool. The specification's focus on business rules and workflows enables this conversion for visual validation.

Does a lean PRD include state-machine workflows?▼

Yes, a lean PRD includes state-machine workflows as an enforced input. It generates testable rules and state-machine workflows that guide engineering teams directly from specification to code implementation.

What are the limitations of using a lean PRD approach?▼

The lean PRD approach is limited to projects needing concise specifications focused on business rules and workflows. It may not suit projects requiring extensive narrative documentation outside of state-machine workflows and testable acceptance criteria.
