A Lean UX Canvas is a one-page template that helps teams frame a business problem, surface assumptions, and define learning experiments before building. It structures hypothesis-driven discovery to align cross-functional teams quickly.

To facilitate a Lean UX Canvas workshop, guide the team through eight ordered sections starting with the Business Problem, then fill Boxes 2 through 8 sequentially to define outcomes, users, hypotheses, and the least work to learn next.

Before using hypothesis-driven development, you need a defined business problem, measurable business outcomes, specific user segments, multiple solution options, and a clear understanding of your riskiest assumption to test.

Use a Lean UX Canvas during early discovery or when reframing existing work to ensure cross-functional alignment. It prevents premature solution building by forcing teams to identify riskiest assumptions and run fast learning experiments first.

After defining your business problem, users, and hypotheses on the canvas, evaluate your assumptions to find the riskiest one. Design the least work smallest learning experiment to test that specific assumption rapidly across sprints.
