High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

What is legacy system migration planning and when do I need it?▼

Legacy system migration planning is the process of analyzing codebases, dependencies, and data stores to define phased strategies for system upgrades. You need it when modernizing legacy architecture to reduce uncertainty, manage transformation risks, and ensure research-backed decisions.

How do I plan a migration from a monolith to microservices with minimal downtime?▼

Plan a monolith to microservices migration by analyzing code dependencies, selecting patterns like strangler fig or service extraction, and generating self-contained domain plans. This phased approach defines an integrated roadmap to ensure minimal downtime during the transition.

What's the best way to manage risks during a database migration?▼

The best way to manage risks during a database migration is to use evidence-backed planning that maps dependencies and validates architecture patterns, such as database dual-write strategies, ensuring organizational constraints are met before execution.

Does this migration planner support phased strategies for complex system architecture?▼

Yes, the migration planner supports complex system architecture by generating detailed, self-contained domain plans and an integrated overall roadmap. It ensures phased strategies are compatible with organizational constraints through research-backed analysis.

Can I use this for service extraction and decomposition planning?▼

Yes, you can use this planner for service extraction and decomposition planning. It assists in selecting appropriate migration patterns, guides deep analysis of codebases, and defines step-by-step validation for multi-step transformation projects.

What are the limitations of automated migration planning for legacy code?▼

Automated migration planning relies on deep analysis of existing codebases, dependencies, and data stores with verified external sources. It requires accurate input mapping and organizational constraint alignment to avoid gaps in risk management and phased strategy execution.
