Creating a new Sanity-powered local business site often fails the moment singleton documents and the required owner author record are missing or duplicated, causing unstable GROQ results and broken layout expectations.

  • Re-runnable Sanity seeding: Upserts singleton documents like siteSettings, tracking, and nav using fixed _id values so repeated runs patch instead of duplicating.
  • Owner author record for JSON-LD: Creates or updates the author document with isOwner: true under a stable identity so Person and Organization.founder resolution works deterministically.
  • Placeholder-first tracking: Writes empty tracking fields as visible Studio placeholders when IDs are not yet provisioned, preventing “missing data” surprises later.

Quick Start

Run node --env-file=web/.env.local scripts/seed-cms.mjs from the project root (where the web/ and Sanity studio folders live) to seed siteSettings, tracking, nav, and the owner author document.
