FAQPage Schema

How do I apply patches and perform platform updates on an Elastic Beanstalk environment?▼

Restarting Elastic Beanstalk app servers is handled through the maintenance skill's restart operations. By prompting the assistant to restart an environment, it automates the server restart process using EB CLI commands and required AWS IAM permissions.

Can I view pending managed actions and audit historical maintenance operations on AWS Beanstalk?▼

Viewing pending managed actions and auditing historical maintenance operations on AWS Beanstalk is supported natively. The maintenance workflow retrieves action history and pending updates, providing visibility into scheduled platform migrations and past maintenance activities.

Do I need EB CLI and specific AWS IAM permissions to schedule Elastic Beanstalk maintenance windows?▼

Scheduling Elastic Beanstalk maintenance windows requires EB CLI and AWS IAM permissions. These prerequisites ensure the automation workflow has the necessary access to initiate managed actions, apply patches, and execute platform migrations within your AWS environment.

What's the best way to automate an Elastic Beanstalk platform migration and upgrade?▼

Automating an Elastic Beanstalk platform migration and upgrade is best achieved by initiating a maintenance workflow through the assistant. This leverages managed actions to schedule and execute the platform update seamlessly via EB CLI automation.

When should I use Elastic Beanstalk maintenance automation instead of a configuration skill?▼

Elastic Beanstalk maintenance automation should be used for managed actions, platform updates, restarts, and patch applications. For configuration changes to your environment settings, a dedicated config skill is the appropriate choice instead of maintenance operations.
