MCP-Tasks Story and Task Management

MCP task management is handled through structured prompts for creating, refining, breaking down, executing, reviewing, and completing tasks. You use commands like add-task, update-task, and complete-task to coordinate standalone tasks and story-based workflows end-to-end.

Git integration is supported within the task execution environment to provide safe recovery and rollback strategies. The workflow patterns incorporate Git operations alongside shared context for inter-task communication during execution.

Story breakdown is achieved using explicit task breakdown workflows provided by the skill. After story creation with add-task, you apply the story creation guidelines to decompose the story into discrete, executable tasks ready for execution.

Task execution is guided by the work-on environment prompt. You select tasks using select-tasks, then execute them using the provided MCP prompts while maintaining shared context for inter-task communication throughout the workflow.

Standalone tasks are fully supported alongside story-based workflows. You can create, update, and complete individual tasks independently using the same task management prompts without requiring a parent story structure.

Task deletion is supported through the delete-task prompt. This allows you to remove tasks during refinement or when workflow requirements shift, maintaining clean coordination across your active stories and tasks.
