Frequently Asked Questions about measuring-product-market-fit

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I measure product-market fit using the Sean Ellis survey?▼

To measure product-market fit using the Sean Ellis survey, ask users how disappointed they would be if the product disappeared. A 40% or higher "very disappointed" response typically indicates strong market pull and readiness to scale.

What retention signals indicate my product has achieved product-market fit?▼

Retention curves that flatten out at a sustained plateau indicate product-market fit. This stable retention signal demonstrates consistent ongoing engagement and validates market pull across different user segments.

When should I scale versus iterate my product based on PMF signals?▼

You should scale when PMF signals like strong Sean Ellis survey results and stable retention curves are validated by reference customers. If these metrics are weak, you should continue iterating or consider pivoting.

How does customer segmentation help validate product-market fit?▼

Customer segmentation validates product-market fit by isolating which specific user groups exhibit the strongest retention and survey responses. De-risking growth requires confirming these segments contain viable reference customers.

Do I need reference customers to confirm product-market fit?▼

Yes, validating with reference customers is a required step to confirm product-market fit. They provide qualitative proof of market pull within specific segments, ensuring your assessment is grounded before scaling.
